Who says you have to choose between a comfortable, classy ride and one that can take on any terrain you throw at it? Audi certainly doesn't.
And to prove just how accommodating it is, new for 2013 model year, the German automaker has introduced the all-new Audi Allroad a capable rugged model based on the recently-discontinued Audi A4 Avant wagon and with a nod to the A6 Allroad Quattro, from the new Audi days of yore.
So, what will the new Audi Allroad have to offer? Here are some vital stats:
- Engine: 211 horsepower, 2.0-liter inline-4 with 258 lb.-ft. torque production
- Transmission: 8-speed automatic
- Performance: top speed of 130 miles per hour / 0-60 sprint time of 6.5 seconds
- Drivetrain: All-Wheel Drive
- Fuel Economy: 20 miles per gallon city / 27 miles per gallon highway
- MSRP: starts at $43,795
In regards to similarities to the last time Audi attempted an Allroad model (i.e. the abovementioned A6 variant), the new version differs in many ways. The most obvious is in its powerplant: a 4-cylinder vs the raucous, twin-turbo V6 which was found in the other auto. Even though it may seem Audi is skimping on power, the purpose of the V6 in the previous model was more to offset the increased weight of the vehicle caused by its off-roading additions. With a horsepower production of 211, however, the new 2013 Audi Allroad should have no trouble delivering just as much excitement as the last.
