Our European friends across the pond have been responding very positively to the availability of luxury diesel models for some time now. Diesel engines are becoming more sought after across the automotive industry now, as they provide an impressive boost in torque power alongside of remarkable fuel economy.
For example, the TDI 3.0-liter engine in the new Audi Q7 generates 240 horsepower alongside of an extraordinary 406 pound-feet of torque. When paired with an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and Audi's quattro all-wheel drive, the Q7 attains a fuel economy of 28 miles per gallon on the highway. In general, diesel-powered models attain 11 percent more energy content than a standard gasoline vehicle.
If you're more interested in going the traditional gasoline route, the Audi Q7 is available with a supercharged 3.0T V-6 engine that is capable of producing 280 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque for a highway fuel economy of 22 miles per gallon.
