Audi has been extremely busy lately when it comes to new concept models. Typically when automakers bring their prototypes out for testing, they're cloaked in camouflaged matting cover. However, sometimes a concept will be disguised and front as another model, as was recently the case with the new Audi RS3.
The German automaker tried to fool us all by covering the RS3 in Audi S3 wrapping as it went out for testing on the Nurburgring track. However, thanks to the expertize of spy photographer's, their trick didn't remain a secret for long.
Some dead giveaways that the vehicle was indeed the brand's sleek new hatch was its distinctive five-cylinder engine, which signals that the RS3 could receive the same powertrain as the Audi TT-RS. This potent 2.5-literturbocharged powerhouse has already been documented to generate a horsepower of at least 340.
But this wasn't all that the spy photographers noticed as they also observed Audi RS wave brake rotors and six-piston calipers, which according to the experts at Autoblog, indicated that the car is intended to reach peak level of high performance in track situations.
It is likely that the production model of the Audi RS3 will be edited a bit to feature a more bold stance with a redesigned front bumper with oval-molded dual exhaust vents. Here in the U.S., we still haven't gotten to experience the Audi S3, but we continue to hold out hope that it and the new RS3 will make the journey across the pond.
