Did you know that the Allroad has an overseas cousin? It’s true. Drop the ride height and lower body cladding, and you get the A4 Avant wagon—an estate we haven’t seen on our shores in years. We’ve pined for it for years, but Audi hasn’t budged. But a combination of new management at Rennsport, and an all-new RS4 Avant gives us some hope.

Most European automakers that build wagons don’t offer them to American drivers because we’re “crossover” folk. Audi strums to the same tune there, but that’s what they said about the RS3 (which arrives this winter). We hope it comes true for the RS4 Avant, which packs 450 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, aggressive front fenders, and a rear diffuser to set it apart visually from its kin. Quattro all-wheel drive is standard, and with peak torque in play from 1,900 to 5,000 rpm, the RS4 Avant will hit sixty in 4.1 seconds. With cargo space inside matching the Allroad, can you see now why we Avant this model so badly?

While the Allroad is no RS4 Avant, it still offers plenty of utility and zest. There is also the S5 Sportback, SQ5, and other models in our new Audi portfolio to meet your performance and utility needs. Contact our Fairfield, CT dealership to get started.
