Audi always pushes the boundaries of what a luxury vehicle can do. They're doing it again with the C-V2X technology (Cellular vehicle-to-everything) co-produced by Navistar. This technology enables Audi models to receive advanced warnings in situations far beyond what's available. Audi has showcased uses for this technology in school areas, construction zones, and cyclists, and here is a quick overview.
Enhancing Driver Alertness
The new C-V2X technology is a safety feature like no other, as it can inform drivers of potential dangers. You'll be alerted if a traffic jam, road constriction, or another hazard is ahead of you. More recently, Audi showcased what this technology can do near stopped school buses or emergency vehicles. Vehicles which often stop unexpectedly to pick up or drop off individuals.
This new bi-directional technology can relay information to nearby cars 400 yards away. By providing such information in advance, drivers could respond faster to another vehicle's presence. Even around a corner or over a hill.
As impressive as this technology is, it isn't exclusive to Audi. The C-V2X was also installed in school buses. By placing it on a school bus, drivers could make more informed decisions while the bus was stopped. As a result, bus drivers better understood when to keep their doors shut. Or when to instruct children to remain on the curb.
